ABOUT THE TOUR
The tour is an hour and half long walking history tour that goes up and down Main Street in Argenta. The tour focuses on the history of Argenta. We examine the myths, legends and stories from the past. We also look at the facts and how they come to bear on the myths and legends We tell the stories of Argenta’s history from the time of its founding through the rebirth and revival. How was Argenta founded? Why do some think it was cursed?
You will learn about the original buildings, some of which still stand, the stories connected to those buildings and the inhabitants, some of whom never left.
You will hear the story of Anastasia, who still haunts a location. See photos of the Argenta Devil and hear about the Werewolf of Cherry Hill. Another place has an unknown entity who has his favorite spot from which he never moves. You will visit the locations where the Argenta Race Riots happened and stand in the places where history was made.
We can’t guarantee you will see a ghost, but we have some pretty interesting photographs that people have captured and even a reportedly haunted artifact. You never know what you may see! To see some of the images captured on the tour, jump to our Gallery.
The tours are all outdoors due to the fact that many of the buildings are privately owned and those that aren’t often have bands, smoking and cover charges on weekends. You are, of course, welcomed and even encouraged to visit the locations after the tour ends.

If you have a group of at least fifteen, you can book a private tour. The cost is $15.00 a person and you can pay in one payment or just get a group of friends together and everyone pays for themselves. With private tours, you can have them modified to your liking. For instance, if you would like to stop in a bar and get a drink, we can do that.

ABOUT THE GUIDE
Paul Prater is an award winning mind reader, performer and entertainer. Paul’s unique blend of storytelling and performance will delight and enchant you.
Paul has performed for clients such as Horseshoe Casino, Verizon Wireless, The Museum of Discovery, Little Rock Horror Film Festival, Juanita’s, The Shreveport Regional Arts Council, Ameriprise Financial, Prost, KLAL-Alice 107.7, the United Unitarian Church, Woodmen of the World, the Arkansas Bar Association and the Arkansas Paranormal Research Association, among others, as well as private parties for individuals and businesses.
Paul has also performed on stage at the Riverfront Amphitheater, RayLynn Theater, Horner Hall in Hot Springs, The Public Theater, The Ouachita Little Theater, the Southeast Arts and Science Center, Wizardz Magic Theater, YES Magic Theater, and the Ron Robinson Theater, among others.
Paul has staged four different one man shows, Epiphenomenon, The Odditorium, Bibliomancer and Aetheric, which ended with sell out performances and standing ovations. His show, The Odditorium was named as one of the top ten things to do over the weekend by the Arkansas Democrat Gazette. He was accepted as a performer at the 2014 Fringe Festival in New Orleans. This is a juried festival in which 35 out of 135 acts were chosen as participants. His story “The End of Summer” was chosen as one of the top six entries in 2014 by Tales From the South. Paul won the coveted “Screaming Goat” award, a stage competition, at East Coast Spirit Sessions in 2017.
Paul performed four years in a row as a performer at the Weekend of Wonder, a three day celebration of magic performances, featuring some of the world’s best magicians and in 2016 was the finale show.
Paul is a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians and the Psychic Entertainer’s Association, an association of professional performing entertainers. who practice in the psychic entertainment field. He is also a monthly columnist for “Vibrations,” the newsletter of the PEA.
Paul has been interviewed and featured on Dragonskull Radio, UnReal Radio, KLAL-Alice 107.7, National Public Radio and on the Perry Noid radio show, among others. Paul has also been featured in newspapers and magazines.
Paul has taken part in stage productions and recently finished filming an upcoming movie. He is a published author with six books of his effects on the market. Paul has also contributed writings to many other published works.
